Plane Ride #2

In less than 24 hours Jonah and I will be arriving in Detroit! I am soooo excited to see my family! Although my mom, dad and sister have met Jonah, my brother, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law have yet to see their nephew! Also, there are tons of friends and family that will be coming by next week to celebrate his arrival!

I am getting myself physically and mentally prepared to fly with Jonah by myself! Jason will be driving in next week and then we will be driving back to NJ with Jonah.... truthfully, I'm more worried about that trip than the flight!

In other news, the last baby in the "baby-boom" group arrived on Sunday, July 19th. Ryan and Nicole Visniski (friends and co-workers of mine) welcomed Grace Elizabeth: 8 lbs, 3 oz, 21 inches long! Here is a photo of the proud mamas and their babies!

Also, if you are wondering what constitutes a "baby boom", here is the tally of our friends recent additions:
March 19th: Twin Babies Annie & Claire Bohon
April 9th: Baby Brady McMillan
April 9th: Baby Darcy McCullough
April 21st: Baby Chloe Polhamus
May 12th: Baby Christian Bullock
May 13th: Baby Jonah Meslin
June 8th: Baby Ellie Herbon
July 19th: Baby Grace Visniski

First Plane Ride

On July 7th Jonah went on his first plane ride! We traveled to Kansas to see Jason's family and friends! Everyone was so excited to meet Jonah and we were happy to get away and visit with everyone...despite 100 degree heat!

Jonah did great on the plane and Jason and I did pretty well maneuvering through the airport with a newborn and all our stuff!

Although everyone says traveling with kids is not the most pleasant experience, I hope the fact that Jonah has started so early and will continue to travel quite a bit will make this a little easier on us in the future. It makes me laugh to think that my first plane ride wasn't until I was 17 and we went to Cancun for Spring Break my senior year in high school. I remember Dana had flown at least a few times and she seemed to know what to do, so I just followed her lead the entire trip. Here Jonah is, just 8 weeks old getting on an airplane for the first time.

The funniest part of the entire trip was on our connecting flight back from Memphis to Philadelphia, we were seated in the first row and Jonah was fussing a bit - our flight attendant was a rather large, no-nonsense, southern woman who leaned over and began talking to Jonah - when he didn't stop fussing she asked if she could have him - so we handed him over and she proceeded to greet all the passengers on the plane while holding Jonah over her shoulder and patting his little butt! He quieted down and I think all the passengers got a kick out of the whole situation!

Here are some photos from the trip!

8 week check-up

Well...he won't technically be 8 weeks old until Wednesday, but since we'll be in Kansas visiting Jason's friends and family, we had our pediatrician appointment early. It was just a regular check-up for height, weight, vitals and shots (however, we are postponing vaccinations until he's older so no shots for now!)

Weight is 13 lbs. 1.5 ounces (95th percentile)
Height is 24 1/2 inches long (95th percentile)
Head is 16 1/4 inches around

All in all, the Doctor was very pleases (as were we) with his progress. He is a very sturdy little man - very little chub and very strong. I know this doesn't mean a whole lot at only 8 weeks old, but I'd like to imagine him growing up to be a very tall, athletic, handsome man. As for who he looks like....well, he seems to be taking after the Petrovichs (my maternal grandmother's family) and the Wilkersons (Jason's maternal grandfather's family)... in looks and in personality.

I've been taking photos with my phone and video with the camcorder, but not with my regular camera, so forgive me - I'll have more photos very soon!

Wish us luck on our first plane ride tomorrow to Wichita! We are sooo excited to see Great-Grandma, Grammy, Papa, Aunt Julee, Uncle Steven, and Cousins: Caitie, Jason, Eden and Rowan....plus all our friends!
