Parent's Weekend

Do you remember parent's weekend in college? How they'd come to visit and you'd show them your new "way of life" in your dorm and on campus?

Well, I don't, 'cause I never went away to college, but I assume it was something like the weekend I just had with my parents!

Mom and Dad drove from Michigan on Thursday and just left this morning (too soon). I miss them already, but we had a great weekend.

They got to see our townhouse, our neighborhood, and where I work. We took them out to dinner on the shore and in downtown Princeton. We spent most of Saturday in Philadelphia thanks to some good weather and some bad traffic. We saw the Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin's Court, Betsy Ross House and Reading Terminal Market. The weekend wasn't too jam-packed, so they got to relax a little too - which was my intention.

It was wonderful to have them here and I can't wait to have them back again and take a trip into NYC for the day. Cheers! To my parents, for going with the flow this weekend and for being such great house guests and great parents!

1 hour away

from NYC makes me a happy girl. So, I am not a New Yorker, though I wish I were. Instead I am a "bridge and tunnel" girl - only making my way into the city for fun and excitement from New Jersey. I can live with that!

We went to the Lower East Side to see Jason's college buddy, Alex's band play. Lowry played alongside The Blood Sugars at Pianos. We drove in and amazingly found parking, stayed for the show and headed back to our home-sweet-home.

I enjoyed the music, although I was more interested in what everyone was wearing! Check them out!

Meatless Update

So, I have officially gone vegetarian. That's right! I have given up meat. However, I have allowed myself a few exceptions: 1) Eating Kansas City BBQ (when in Rome...) and 2) A rib eye last night to celebrate the first grill-out of the season. Sue me.

Other than that, I'm doing quite well. I will be on experimenting with Tofu this week and continue to try new soy products until I find ones that are satisfactory.
- O'soy Yogurt by Stonyfield Farms is light-years better than Silk Yogurt (yucky!) Too bad the grocery stores around here stock it at their convenience.
- I continue to drink 8th Continent Orignal Light Soymilk - thanks to my sissy who did the leg-work on finding a decent soy-milk.
- Morningstar veggie corndogs are delightful and taste so much like the real thing you'll feel like you're cheating!
- Morningstar veggie burgers (mushroom, veggie lovers, tomato-basil, black bean) are all good!

I want to give a shout out to my sister Michelle who is totally supportive and trying herself to possible convert and to my BF Lacey, who is a tried-and-true vegetarian who gave me an amazing cookbook to get things rolling (Moosewood Low-Fat Favorites) and for her support! I couldn't have done it without you two!
